The Georgia Public Defender Council held the Ladders Program’s 2nd Annual Career Readiness Day On December 13th, 2023. The day-long event focused on fostering professional growth among youth 16-24 who are exiting the justice system.

On Wednesday, October 26th, the Ladders Program held its fourth Soft Skills workshop, focusing on nurturing a growth mindset. The program continues to see an increase in participants and community involvement.

The 3rd Ladders Soft Skills Workshop was held September 27th and centered on the crucial topic of time management.

The most recent Ladders Program workshop focused on the development and importance of effective communication skills.

The Ladders communications workshop covered skills for everyday encounters, common pitfalls, and professional marketing techniques. Participants were also provided insights into the significance of strategic communication to their home life and future careers.

On Saturday, August 19, volunteers from the Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC) and its Ladders Program participants made a significant impact at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Over just three hours, the team packaged 11,221 pounds of food, translating into 9,351 meals. This volunteer effort will aid individuals facing food insecurity in metro Atlanta and throughout north Georgia.
