our process

Ladders is structured around five core components: case management, soft skills, mentorship, direct education, facilitated through options like GED or vocational training and workforce development.

  • It starts with our team of dedicated social work specialists who work with each participant to develop a personalized case plan. This plan features meticulously outlined S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals, aimed at significantly improving participant outcomes both during and beyond the duration of the program. To realize this vision, our specialists employ targeted strategies that bolster problem-solving skills, coping mechanisms, communication abilities, goal-setting, and connections to community services.

  • We then engage speakers and presenters, who are renowned experts in their respective fields, to deliver invaluable insights to our participants during the soft-skills component of our program. We acknowledge that the advantages of comprehending and applying acquired knowledge are boundless, paving the way for personal and professional growth. To this end, we offer an array of in-person soft skills training sessions, carefully designed to equip our participants with essential life skills that are critical for success in both personal and professional settings. These training sessions include:

Communication and Conflict Resolution: Enhancing interpersonal communication skills and providing strategies for effective conflict management, fostering healthier relationships and workplace environments.

Stress Management and Self-Care: Offering techniques to manage stress effectively and prioritize self-care, ensuring participants can maintain mental and emotional well-being.

Teamwork and Time Management: Building collaborative skills and improving the ability to manage time efficiently, crucial for achieving goals and succeeding in team settings.

Financial Literacy: Educating participants on managing finances, budgeting, saving, and investing, empowering them with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions.

Through these interactive and engaging sessions, we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate the complexities of life with confidence and competence. Additionally, our curriculum incorporates a minimum volunteer requirement of 4 hours, emphasizing the importance of community service and fostering a sense of civic responsibility among participants, further enriching their learning experience and societal contribution.

  • By harnessing the wisdom and experience of mentors who have themselves successfully navigated the program, the mentorship component provides participants with invaluable insights and assistance, significantly enhancing their progress towards their objectives within the Ladders Program. To ensure the most effective and empathetic support, mentors are carefully selected based on their expertise, interpersonal skills, and personal backgrounds.

This mentorship component is a cornerstone of our approach, embodying our commitment to fostering a supportive and informed environment that propels participants toward their goals.

  • In recent years, a divide has emerged between individuals who pursue higher education and those who do not, leading to disparities in job stability and access to opportunities. This division has cultivated an environment where lack of opportunity becomes a barrier to progress. Recognizing this, our partnership with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is a strategic response to this challenge, enabling Ladders Program participants to earn their GED or undergo vocational training in specialized job fields that do not necessitate a four-year degree. Participants are eligible to obtain certifications in automotive technology, commercial truck driving, construction, plumbing, HVAC, manufacturing, and more – all in-demand sectors.

  • Our Workforce Development component begins with a Career Readiness Day, which includes mock interviews, resume building workshops, professional headshots, and insights from industry professionals. Following this, participants are matched with local businesses for internships or full-time jobs, equipping them with the necessary skills and experiences for success in skilled professions. This comprehensive approach not only provides a crucial support system but also contributes to community empowerment, ensuring our youth have the opportunities and resources needed to succeed in a complex world.
